James Archie Roberts

Archie was born on September 22, 1928 in Mumford Texas, a distant suburb of Hearn e Texas.  To Annie Mae and Eather Roberts.

He had one older sister Joy, and two younger sisters Marian and Barbara.

They moved to Houston, Texas when Archie was 6 months old.

They moved to Lawrenceburg Tennessee when Archie was three years old. The family moved back to Houston when he was in elementary school , b ut Archie always loved that Tennessee part of his roots.

He attended Elliott Elementary School, Marshall Jr. High and Jeff Davis High School. Archie accepted Christ as his Personal Savior while he was in the Junior Dept at Liberty Road Baptist Church. He grew in his spiritual walk with the Lord and served in many different areas of the churches he attended. He was in-charge of the House and Grounds and Personnel committees; a Sunday School Superintendent and served a s a Deacon.

He married in 1950 and they had two daughters , Ann and Laurie.

He worked as a Pipeline draftsman at Tennessee Gas Transmission, later known as Tenneco. While working full time h e attended University of Houston at night . After many years he choose to become a dad to his two daughters instead of earning his Engineering Degree. He retired from Tenneco after 34 years, taking an early retirement in 1989.

In 1985 he married Royse C. Hendricks who had two daughters Brenda and Carol. He always considered them daughters and never step daughters. Royse and Archie were the perfect example of Jesus' love. They adored and cherished each other til l the end.

He found a true home in Tomball with his Sunday School Class at First Baptist Tomball. They loved each one of the class members and they made many wonderful memories over the years.
