Jim Ayres

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Robert Ayres, who left us on January 26, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on April 8, 1957, Jim was a man of quiet strength, humility, and unwavering dedication to his family.

Jim grew up in Louise, Texas where he developed a deep appreciation for the simple joys of country life – surrounded by towering oak trees, vast open spaces and starry night skies.  His grandparents instilled in him a love for the outdoors, teaching him how to hunt, fish and care for the land. Jim was a hardworking man, spending years in the oil fields and traveling countless miles across Texas in medical sales.  Some of his most cherished memories were spent listening to music with Jenni in New Orleans, cruising on the water with family and friends in Rockport and Port O'Connor and challenging everyone to a "friendly" game of dominoes. His greatest joy came from sharing his love of the water, whether teaching the kids to fish, watching the sun set over the bay, or flinging the tube behind the boat to catch maximum air. Above all else, Jim loved spending time with his family and bringing together friends and neighbors over good food, good drinks and a whole lot of laughs.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. Jim was preceded in death by his grandparents Claude and Kathleen Appling and his father, John Ayres. He is survived by his loving wife, Jenni; his mother, Claudine Ayres; his daughter Audrey and her husband Jeff Keech; his son Mitchell and his wife Holly Ayres; and his stepdaughters, Maddie and Liv George. He also leaves behind his two sisters, Ashley McAuliffe, Jody Childs along with their families. Pops was deeply loved by his grandchildren: Blaine and Brandt Ayres, and John, Kathleen, Samantha and Rebekah Keech.

Jim will remain in our hearts forever.

A visitation, service and reception will be held at Collective Church in Magnolia, Texas. Graveside service will be held in El Campo, Texas.
