James Edward Rector, beloved husband, father and brother, of Cypress, Texas, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 14, 2023.

Jim was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer Rector, his mother, Barbara, and his brother, Stephen. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Freda Rector; his six children, Kim Gower and her husband Matt Gower, Kris Henning and her husband Steve Henning, Tricia Dixon and her husband Jim Dixon, LaJeune Hurst, Erich Hurst and his wife Karen Hurst, and Stephen Hurst; and his eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Willier and her husband Don Willier; and his brothers, John Rector and his wife Diana Rector, and Michael Rector and his wife Rosalyn Rector.

Jim was born on July 8, 1944, in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating from Des Moines Technical High School in 1962, he entered the US Marine Corps Reserves, where he served for six years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. In 1985, he and his family moved to Houston where he made many dear friends. Jim enjoyed playing sports, especially tennis, golf, hunting and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held on August 4, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Dr, Spring, TX 77379. A memorial service celebrating Jim's life will be held on August 5, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Klein Funeral Home, with a reception following.
