On December 9, 1936 James "Jim" Milton Parker entered this world in Vowells

Mill LA, the first born and eldest of 5 sons born to Mae and Percy Parker.

The family soon moved to Provencal, LA. where Jim grew up. After high

school, Jim attended North Western College in Natchitoches, LA until the

United States Army called him into service. Jim proudly served his country

from 1960-1962. Soon after his discharge from the Army, Jim joined Armco

Steel where he was dutifully employed for 27 1/2 years. Jim's work ethic

was as strong as his character. Never one to complain nor boast, Jim was

the same humble, hard-working, honest, dependable, easy-going, and patient

man at work as he was at home. Every day of his life, everywhere he went

and to everyone he met Jim was a true Christian gentleman. He and his

loving wife, Pat, cherished their life-long fellowship at Houston's 2nd

Baptist Church on Woodway.

Jim met the love of his life, Pat, in Houston, Texas, June 1962. They were

married October 25, 1962 and embodied a "perfect union" for 55 years! As

Pat will proclaim with tears of joy, "we never had an argument"! True, it

just wasn't in Jim's nature. Oh, he was steadfast and true to his

beliefs... to his faith... even in his opinions... but although he was

often the tallest, largest person in the room, he never, *ever* raised his

voice above others to be heard. Jim *always* spoke and acted with kindness,

patient wisdom and thoughtful words to perfectly convey his thoughts. Ever

calm, ever encouraging, always eager to lend a hand or offer a

compassionate ear, Jim was likened to a "gentle giant". He will always be

Pat's "Honey"! Scott and Monica's "Dad", "PaPa" to all his beloved

grandkids.... and will forever be in all of our hearts!

Just 9 days shy of his 81st birthday, on November 30, 2017, Jim left this

earth to join his parents Mae and Percy and brothers Randy, Charles and

Larry in Heaven. Jim is survived by Pat Parker, his adoring wife of 55

years; son, Scott and grandson Alex Parker; Alex's mother, Lety Parker;

daughter, Monica Riess and husband Mike; grandchildren, Zach and Kyle

Pisciotta, and Tresa, Katie and John Michael Riess; brother, Ross Parker;

numerous loving nieces and nephews and extended family members.
