Obituary

James (Jim) Loyd Horstman, age 73, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2018 at Dornberg Compassion Center in Victoria, TX. He was born on March 23, 1945 in Pyote, TX to Edmund and Margaret (Duvall) Horstman. He was a sailor in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1968 on the U.S.S. Oriskany and earned a Vietnam Service Medal & Navy Unit Commendation.  After his service to our county, he went on to earn a B.S. in Business Administration from Eastern Illinois University.  He worked in ministry for the Catholic Archdiocese of Houston-Galveston. In addition, he worked in Real Estate Development/Investing. He volunteered many years at Casa de Esperenza and in 1990 earned a Mayor's Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service for the City of Houston. He treasured time with family and friends, enjoyed traveling, collecting, playing cards and a good joke. Left to honor Jim are his children: Troy (married to Brenda), Kimberly (married to Terry Sontag) and Noelle (married to Ken Laughrun).  His grandchildren:  Ashley, Alex, Colby, Miranda (married to Mathew Speaker,) Christian, Dalton, Jake, Jonathan and Marisol. Great-grandchildren: Sunni Horstman (father Christian) & Mathew Speaker, Jr. (mother Miranda.) His siblings:  Bob (married to Erin,) Judy (married to Craig Schulz), and Tom (married to Mary) and 9 nephews who will always think of their 'Uncle Jim' as a cowboy.   He will be remembered as generous, compassionate, adventurous, humorous, entertaining but most of all, LOVED beyond any measure…until we meet again.

The family will greet friend 6-8pm, Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Klein Funeral Home. A funeral service will be 2pm, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Klein Funeral Home Chapel. There will be A Celebration of Life to follow burial at:
