James Louis "Jim" Harrison was born on November 27, 1927, in Victoria. He lived a life defined by faith, service, family devotion, and steadfast commitment to his community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert W. Harrison and Christine Kay Harrison (Haller); his brother, Albert Harrison; and his sisters, Sue Grieve, Kay Barncord, and Gail Anderson.

Jim is survived by his devoted wife, Gladys Harrison (Spies); his children, David W. Harrison (Janet), Richard L. Harrison (Denise), and Janice Harrison; and his cherished grandchildren, Sean and Megan Harrison. He is also survived by his sisters, Jean Payne and Nancy Albrecht. He is fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, with whom he maintained close and meaningful relationships throughout his life. They loved their "Uncle Jimmy."

A graduate of St. Joseph High School in Victoria, Jimmy volunteered for service in the United States Navy following graduation. He was honorably discharged after the conclusion of World War II. He continued his education at Victoria College before transferring to University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 1950.

His initial employment after college was with DuPont in Victoria. Shortly thereafter, Jim began a distinguished career with what would become Exxon Corporation. Jim was based mainly in Houston, but he was also assigned to New Orleans and later opened an office in Los Angeles. He started as a district clerk, then worked in pipeline right-of-way acquisition, and spent the latter part of his career in risk management. He remained with the company until his retirement in 1986, demonstrating loyalty, professionalism, and integrity throughout his tenure. He developed many lifelong friendships through his employment.

Jim was deeply engaged in community life. He dedicated countless hours to youth development, serving as a longtime Little League coach, participating in Boy Scouts activities, supporting high school band programs, and contributing to numerous youth-focused initiatives. His mentorship and leadership left a lasting impression on generations of young people.

A man of strong and enduring faith, Jim was a founding parishioner of St. Edward Parish. He served as one of its initial extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion and provided leadership through parish council service, business guidance, and fundraising efforts. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, reflecting his lifelong commitment to faith and service.

In retirement, Jim remained active in both family and civic life. He and Gladys traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, and beyond. They particularly enjoyed cruising. Together they embraced square dancing and numerous social activities, maintaining an active and vibrant circle of friends. Jim especially treasured family gatherings and reunions, always present and fully engaged. He was always involved in a friendly competition among in-laws and "out-laws" as to who could be the life of the party. He enjoyed manning the grill and pit, producing an impressive array of tasty briskets complemented by his own tangy sauce. He held a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Sean and Megan, whose lives brought him immense joy and pride.

He was the ultimate Texas Longhorns, Houston Astros, Houston Oilers, and Houston Texans fan. Longhorn national championships and Astros World Series victories were cherished highlights he enthusiastically celebrated.

Jim was blessed with excellent health until his latter years, which allowed him to live life to the fullest. Through the heroic efforts of his wife, Gladys, and daughter, Janice, he was able to spend the final, challenging period of his life at home. This was a great comfort to him, and he passed peacefully in that setting.

James Louis Harrison will be remembered for his steadfast faith, generous spirit, civic dedication, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched. He truly provides an example of a "life well lived."

A visitation will be held at Klein Funeral Home, (16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379) on Friday, February 20, 2026 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM.

Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, February 21, 2026 in the Sanctuary of Saint Edward Catholic Church, (2601 Spring Stuebner Rd, Spring, TX 77389). Reception to Follow.

Mr. Harrison will be laid to rest in the gardens of Forest Park Lawndale on Friday, March 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM.
