James Edward Heiser, 78, of Spring, Texas, passed away on February 1 ^st , 2022, after a long and valiant battle with cancer. James was born in Freeport, Texas on July 22, 1943 to James C. and Eula R. Heiser.  James spent his formative years in Brazoria, Texas and graduated from West Columbia High School in 1961. James put himself through college and attended Wharton Jr. College, Lamar Tech, and The University of Texas at Austin where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. After graduation in 1965, James began his thirty-five-year career with Shell Oil Company in Deer Park, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Dianne Roberts, in 1965 and the newlyweds were soon transferred to Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 1968, the couple was transferred by Shell to New Orleans, Louisiana where James earned a Master's in Business Administration from Loyola University, New Orleans. It was in New Orleans that James and Dianne welcomed their first two children, Katrina and Candace. In 1974, the young family moved to Curaçao, Dutch West Indies, where James served as Treasurer of the new super tanker docking port. After a two-and-a-half-year stint in Curaçao, the family returned to New Orleans and welcomed their third child, Jason. Next it was on to California where the family lived for six years where James was based out of Carson City. He served as President of Carson Chamber of Commerce and Treasurer of the Domiguez-Carson Rotary Club. In 1985, James was transferred to Houston where he earned his Certificate of Public Accounting in 1987 and continued to work for Shell Oil Company until his retirement as Director of Auditing in November 2000.

Along with his successful career at Shell Oil, James served the Lord through his church of thirty-six years, John Wesley United Methodist Church, Houston. James was passionate about mission work and served on numerous missions including trips to Belize, Costa Rica, Oklahoma, and various other locales. James also served John Wesley United Methodist Church on many committees including the Vision Committee (Chairman), Parsonage Committee, Facilities and Land Building Committee, Staff Parish Relations Committee (Chairman), and the Finance Committee (Chairman).

James enjoyed working with his hands and took on many home remodeling projects in his retirement. He enjoyed spending time at his home away from home on the San Bernard River in Brazoria, Texas, where he could often be found fishing on the pier or cruising down the river in his boat. James and Dianne enjoyed traveling the world, entertaining friends, and spending time with family. James will forever be remembered for his great sense of humor, wise counsel, and generosity.

James is preceded in death by his parents James C. and Eula R. Heiser, brother Charles Van Heiser, and sister JoAnn Muse. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Roberts Heiser, of 57 years, his three children, Katrina Heiser of Houston, Texas, Candace O'Connell (Tom) of Spring, Texas, and Jason Heiser (Aimee) of Richardson, Texas, grandchildren, Ellen O'Connell, Ian O'Connell, Sara Heiser, and Joshua Heiser, and nieces, Regina Herrington and Dyan Gilbert.

The family invites you to celebrate James' life on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at John Wesley United Methodist Church ( www.jwumc.org) located at 5830 Bermuda Dunes Drive, Houston, Texas 77069.
Visitation will commence at 1:00 PM followed by a 2:00 PM service.
