James Henry (Trey) Grant III won his battle against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis on November 3, 2021, in Houston, Texas at 58 years old.  His body is now fully restored, and he is rejoicing with Jesus, his Lord, and Savior.

Trey was born September 3, 1963, to Monterrey Grant and Hank Grant in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Tivy High School in Kerrville and Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. After a 30-year career with Donovan Marine, Trey retired in June of 2020.

Trey married Suzi on September 25th, 1993, making their home in Houston, their family grew as they added Jack in 1996 and Tate in 2001. Trey put family first being a wonderful husband and father.  He taught his boys by living the example of excellent character, a strong work ethic, and dependability. Raising his boys was Trey's greatest pride and joy. In the words of his sons, 'Dad just loved being a Dad!'

Trey valued quality family time in Sargent at the family bay house; summers at the Neshoba County fair with cousins in Mississippi, and time in Kerrville teaching his boys to hunt. The Grants are members of Second Baptist Church where he spent years serving as a deacon and grew in his faith and friendships in a weekly men's bible study with neighbors.

Trey never lost his sense of humor. His eye gaze communication device allowed him to stay connected with friends and family, displaying his wit until the end of his life.

Suzi and Trey's marriage was a beautiful picture of God's love. As Trey's illness progressed, Suzi and Trey continued to find ways to honor their commitment to one another. Suzi worked tirelessly, lovingly, and sacrificially to ensure that their home was comfortable for Trey and a welcoming place for visitors.  Her care ensured that Trey was able to live his last years with comfort and dignity.

The Grants are thankful for all who loved, cared, and prayed without ceasing. The three years Trey battled ALS were blessed with many friends, family, doctors, and caregivers supporting the challenges that they faced.

Trey is survived by his beloved wife, Suzi; son, Jack and daughter in law Sarah, son, Tate; father, Hank Grant; mother, Monterrey Grant; brother, Jay Grant, and wife, Elizabeth; and many extended family members and friends.
