James Vance Gore
January 5, 1940 – June 16, 2026
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our dear brother and friend, James (Jim) Gore. Jim was born in Olimpic, NC to James Stone Gore and Margaret Best Gore. He was proud of his service to our country in the US Navy. His last assignment was at the US Naval Academy as an instructor to Navy Pilots. In the process he learned to fly himself. He was predeceased by his grandparents, parents, wife, Martha Holland Gore, and nephews Charles and Rusty. He is survived by his only sibling, Nancy Gore Wood of Mount Pleasant, SC; her husband, Boyd and their children; Tracy, Robin, David and Tripp and grandchildren who loved their "Uncle Jim"; Ryan, Michael, Madison, Ashley, Patch, Reid, Paige and Bryce.
Jim was a renaissance man with varied interests. Although sailing the Inamorata with the love of his life, he excelled in golf, was proud to carry a PGA card, was a poet, a writer and most importantly a friend to many.
He will be missed but forever live in our memories. and the lessons we learned from him will make us better men and women.
He is now sailing on the heavenly seas with his first mate, Martha. Sail on dear friend. The world is a better place because of you, and we are much better people for having walked this path with you.
