James "Donnie" Donald Martin, age 77, was born on September 26, 1948 in Bessemer, Alabama and passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026 after a life marked by service, curiosity, and a generous sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Martin, his mother, Glatus Frederick Martin, and his brother, O'Dell Martin.
James is survived by his sister, Judy Ann Fuller, and brother‑in‑law, Robert Fuller; his sister‑in‑law, Linda Faye Martin; and his beloved nieces and nephew; Michele Smoot, Sharleen Fuller, Marlene Fuller, and Michael Martin.
His family and friends will remember him for his warmth, his kindness, and his unmistakable wit. A man of many interests, James loved telling riddles and jokes, often lighting up a room with his humor. He enjoyed keeping up with the latest cars and sound systems, and he was an avid fan of Marx Brothers' films.
A lifelong learner, he also loved to read and never stopped exploring new ideas.
James pursued higher education at the University of Memphis, where he earned his associate's degree. He later dedicated years of honorable service to his country through the U.S. Marine Corps and the Merchant Marines, careers that exemplified his strength, commitment, and sense of duty.
James's family extends their deepest gratitude to the many workers and caregivers in the assisted living homes who cared for him with patience, dignity, and compassion over the years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, an organization that reflects James's lifelong respect for service and sacrifice.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, February 12, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Klein Funeral Home, (16131 Champion Forest Drive Spring, Texas 77379).
