? JAMES LOUIS DEWEESE, 83, went to be with the Lord on April 8, 2019.

James was born October 14, 1935 in Shamrock, TX, to George and Alma Deweese.  He grew up in the Houston Heights where he made a profession of faith in Jesus and was baptized at Heights First Baptist Church.  He graduated from Reagan High School in 1954 where he lettered in track.  His love of running continued through adulthood.  In  February 1961 James began his career  as a firefighter in the Houston Fire Department .

James was witty, and he enjoyed kidding and practical jokes, a skill which he refined having spent many years at the fire station.  He retired in 1995 after serving the people of Houston over  34 years. He was especially proud that both his son, Steven, and his grandson, David, followed in his footsteps as Houston firefighters.

James, an avid hunter,spent most of his free time looking for something to hunt or hunt with. He also passed down his love of all things hunting and gun related to his son and grandsons.

The other love of his life was his wife of almost 46 years, Gloria.  She says that when she met James, he was so handsome and fun--- she knew right away that she wanted  to marry him! They both shared a great love of their family.

James was also a much-loved son and devoted brother to his sister, Laverne, whom he adored.  James is preceded in death by his parents, George and Alma Deweese; his sister, Laverne Dahl; his daughter, Tanya Garies Herzog; and granddaughter,  Michelle Deweese.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Grace Deweese; son, Steven Deweese and wife, Glenda; daughter, Dana  Garies and husband, Gary;  daughter Amy Einkauf and husband, Mike Boyles; grandsons, David and Douglas Deweese; Kevin and Matthew Kruse; and his little love, Brana Rose Boyles; niece, Gina Lunsford and husband, Mark, and their children, Phillip and Lauren.

Family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday,  April 10, 2019, at Klein Funeral Home—Tomball, 1400 W. Main, Tomball, TX 77375 . A funeral service to be held at 10 a.m.,Thursday, April 11, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Tim Carter officiating.  Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, Houston.
