James (Jim) Carl De Bruin passed away December 9, 2023 in Montgomery, TX after experiencing a heart-related illness.

Born in Pella, Iowa on April 12, 1938, he grew up on the family farm. He attended Central College where he played baseball and worked for the local radio station.

Following college, radio took him to Longview, TX where he was married on October 24, 1964 to Elaine Campbell. The family was blessed to celebrate the Golden Anniversary with them in 2014 before Elaine's passing.

With a professional demeanor and baritone voice, opportunities soon followed in Houston where Jim worked as a DJ with KNUZ, a local radio station, alongside peer Dave Ward. The relationship with Dave soon transitioned to an opportunity to work for Channel 13 (ABC) in Houston. His role progressed from a field reporter to the lead sportscaster to a decades-long role in Advertising.

Jim was a faithful member of the Conroe Church of Christ, served as the President of the MOB (Men of Bentwater), and was an avid reader. He had an incredible mind and memory, an adventurous and always kind and hopeful spirit, and loved spending time with his kids and extended family.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Jennie De Bruin, his wife, Elaine, his brother Bruce, his brother-in-law Carroll Campbell, his nephew Kevin, and his niece Shelly. He is survived by his three beautiful children, Jeff and partner Ann, Scott and wife Angela, Stacey and husband Steve, brother Keith and wife Rosie, sister Phyllis, sister-in-law Marilyn, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Carl and Kathy Meadows, sister-in-law Terry, six grandchildren Hillary, Austin, Ben, Jack, Grant and Paige, great grandchild Rory, and special friend Mariarosa (Rosi) Widak.
