James Louis (Jim) Carter, age 81, passed away August 7th 2016, at North Cypress  Medical Center after an extended illness. Jim was born June 7th 1935 and was raised in Richmond Indiana. He was the son of Evelyn and Louis Carter.

Jim was on the Richmond high school basketball team and was a soloist in the school choir. Jim married June Gayle Samuels in 1954, she preceded him in death in July of 2013.

He served in the U.S. Armed Forces, and after the Army he went to Purdue University and graduated college at Indiana University with a degree in Business Management. Jim worked in the business community for many years as a Labor Relations specialist until finally retiring from Conoco/DuPont/Vista Chemical division as its corporate Director of Labor Relations.

He was an avid golfer, longstanding member of Bear Creek golf course in Houston, and participated in many tournaments and events there.

Jim is survived by his three sons James Allen Carter, David Thomas Carter, and Terrence Robert Carter, grandchildren Lori Michelle Heckeroth, Leah Marie Morgensen, Melinda Renee Russell, Jennifer Rose Carter, Robert Thomas Carter, Robert James Carter, and Anna Alexis Carter, and great grandchildren Bryce Johnson, Haylee Johnson, Lance Russell, Nicolas Russell, and Jaden Russell.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at Klein Funeral Home Chapel, 9719 Wortham Blvd. Houston Texas 77065. 832-678-3900 . The services will be officiated by Pastor Terry Teykl, Faithbridge Methodist Church, 18000 Stuebner Airline Road, Spring Texas 77379.
