James H. Caronna born February 21, 1926, passed away January 5, 2019 at the age of 92 in his home in Magnolia, Texas.

James, a native of Houston, Texas, served in the U.S. Navy during WW2. James participated in Operation Iceberg, the invasion of Okinawa, as a member of the U.S. Navy Beach Battalion, and was Seaman First Class serving aboard the USS Neshoba APA 216. Additionally James was part of the The Magic Carpet, returning eligible dischargees from overseas to the United States.

After the war James married his sweetheart Rosalie Tritico to whom he was married for 68 years. James and Rosalie eventually settled in Houston, Texas where they raised four children.  After retirement from Shell Oil Company, James and Rosalie moved to Magnolia, Texas where they became active in St. Anne Catholic Church in Tomball, Texas. James became a member of the Knights of Columbus, rising to the position of Grand Knight.  James was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2427 in Tomball, Texas.

James is preceded in death by his wife Rosalie.

James is survived by his four children, Carolyn, Christopher, Pamela and Mark, twelve grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Kleins Funeral Home in Tomball, Texas on Saturday, January 12, at 10:00 a.m. Officiating will be James' son, Chaplain Mark S. Caronna of Bandera, Texas. Internment will be at the Houston National Cemetery.
