James Ronald Bowles, known by those close to him as Ronnie, passed away at home on Saturday September 3, 2016. Ronnie was born in Oxford, Mississippi on June 6, 1953. His family moved to Houston when he was a child. It was there that he later met his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Mickey. Ronnie and Mickey were married on June 16, 1973. Together, they had two daughters, Shelley and Courtney, and three granddaughters, Kelcey, Emma, and Ava. Ronnie commonly referred to them all as "his girls" and let everyone know that his world revolved around them. Ronnie held many roles during his life but one of his most cherished roles was that of Poppy and Buddy to his grandchildren. Ronnie is survived by his oldest daughter Shelley Hidbrader, husband Asa, and their daughters Kelcey and Emma Hidbrader, his youngest daughter Dr. Courtney Brock, husband Travis, and their children Cameryn, Devin, and Ava Brock; sisters Donna and Cathy and brothers-in-law Rick and Steve. Survivors also include father-in-law Pat LaFitte and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father Annie L. and James H. (Preacher) Bowles, mother-in-law Lucille LaFitte, and his beloved wife of more than 41 years, Mickey, whom he missed dearly every day since her passing. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the ALS Association of Texas or Team Gleason.
A memorial service for James "Ronnie" Bowles will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2 PM. The family will receive friends starting at 12 PM for early visitors.
