Obituary

James Ross Billings was born in Edinburg, Texas on December 1, 1947, and passed away on January 19, 2023 in Tomball, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold Ross Billings and Ethel Tate Dees Billings; his siblings, Harold Wayne Billings of Austin, Texas, Noel Marvin "Pooch" Billings of San Marcos, Texas, and Lola Ruth Cook of Kingsland, Texas; paternal grandparents, Rev Link Hugh Billings and Susan Ann Callahan; and maternal grandparents, Myron Adolphus Dees and Emma Valerie White.

James is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Dianna Marie Billings; his daughter, Courtney Kristine Billings Hayden and husband Garry Dwight Hayden;  grandchildren, Ava Isabelle Hayden, and Grant James Hayden; and sister-in law Toni Dunn Haldeman and husband Dan Haldeman of Shepherd, Texas.

James graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio, Texas in 1966 where he served as Student Council President. He attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas from 1966-1968, and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas from 1968-1970.

He attained the rank of Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps in which he served from 1970-1976. He was a member of the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion/ 4th Marine Division of San Antonio, Texas.

James was no stranger to dedication and hard work and built a career with GE Capital over 25 years. He also spent 3 years with AT&T, nearly 10 years with American General Finance, followed by Centex/ Pulte Homes, and his time with Resolutions Hospice.

He looked forward to spending time with his grandkids Ava and Grant, who meant the world to him, and he always had a story to tell. He shared stories about growing up in Texas, going to school and his love for the American flag.

A celebration of James' life will be held at a later date. Details to come.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' honor to Tunnel To Towers.
