On October 20, 2024 Jim passed away at his home in Spring, Texas. Born on January 14, 1937 at McPherson, Kansas he was the son of Eddie and Emma Benoit.
He enlisted in the United States Air Force in May of 1955 as a Ballistic Missile Checkout Equipment Specialist. A1C Benoit served two terms of enlistment and received an Honorable Discharge from the 579th Strategic Aerospace Wing, Walker Air Base, Roswell, New Mexico in January of 1964.
Jim received graduate degrees in psychological research and clinical psychology. He taught for several years in the University of Wisconsin system as a psychologist. He then worked in public education as a psychologist, special education director, consultant, and K-12 principal. Jim was also a published novelist.
He married Linda Allison in November of 1989. They enjoyed traveling and taking photos of nature.
He is survived by his wife Linda, his older brother Robert (Karen), and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Constance, and son Brent.
Jim requested that he be cremated and that no services be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
