Obituary

James Edward Baker, sixty-two, of Houston, Texas, passed away on December 2, 2025.

James was born in Havre De Grace, Maryland, on February 3, 1963, to Marvanell and Bruce Baker. He spent his early childhood in Lake Jackson, Texas, and moved to Arkansas at the age of seven. He graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor's Degree in Data Processing Quantitative Analysis and began a highly successful career in computer programming before moving to Houston, Texas, where he lived for the rest of his life.

James is survived by his wife, Rana Abisaid Baker, his two children Dylan and Hannah Baker, his stepson Ramsey Saab, his brother Timothy Baker, and his sister-in-law Cheryl Baker, as well as their two children Kara Armond and Alexandra Baker.

James was a remarkable man by any standard; a respectful, kind, and dedicated husband, a loving and supportive father, a reliable and industrious worker, a successful business owner. He was known for his deep, consistent calm that made even the toughest days easier. He approached life with strength, a positive attitude, and unshakeable confidence, all wrapped around a heart of gold. James was well respected and loved by everyone who knew him.

James enjoyed a variety of hobbies. He was an avid deep sea fisherman, hunter, and target shooter. His passion for developing game software was such that he was one of the few who could truly boast of loving his job so much that he never worked a day in his life. He was also a movie buff who amassed a massive collection over the years, and he loved reading and traveling as well.

James was beloved by his family, who was exceptionally fortunate to have him. He will be so deeply missed, for the void he left behind can never ever be filled, but his memory will be celebrated by all who knew him.

The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday, January 11th, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Lora Kilroy Center at Bayou Bend Gardens - 6003 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, 77007.
