Jacovos (Iakovos) Biskinis, 92, of The Woodlands, TX passed away on Tuesday, June 4th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Athens, Greece to the late Nicholas and Maria (Stamiris).

In his youth he was a track and field athlete for the Ethnikos G. S. Athens, one of the oldest multi-sports clubs in Greece which was founded in 1893. He was a Balkan champion in the high jump and was known among his fellow athletes at Jakos. He was most proud of this accomplishment and his closest friends throughout his life were fellow athletes.

Later when Jacovos came to the United States he joined the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged after being wounded. He received the National Defense Service Medal and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal after having served in Vietnam.

Jacovos went on to study Economics at California State University in San Francisco and graduated Summa Cum Laude when he received his bachelor's degree. He continued with his post graduate studies at UC Berkeley. He made his way through school bartending at the Famous Lefty O'Doul's Bar/Restaurant in San Francisco.

He was a storyteller, and his life was filled with adventures that he enjoyed retelling.

Jacovos was an author of 2 published autobiographical books mostly about his experience during Vietnam. Both books were written in Greek and published in Greece.

Most his life was spent in San Francisco and Bakersfield, CA and in Amarillo, TX. He lived the last years of his life in Belmont & Bedford, MA and The Woodlands, TX.

He followed the stock market, track and field, soccer, spent a great deal of time on his coin and stamp collection and enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to play chess.

Beloved husband of Evanthia K. Biskinis (Karayannakos). Devoted father of Maria-Elena Biskinis, son in-law Panagiotis Lourotos. Cherished "pappou" (grandfather) of Iakovos, Amalia and Markos Lourotos. Loving brother of the late Angeliki Daskalopoulou (Biskinis). Survived by many relatives & friends.
