Jackson Durham Walker, 87, of Magnolia, Texas, passed away January 22, 2019.  He was born May 1, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas to the late Horace Jackson Walker and Gladys Snead Walker.

Jackson grew up in Victoria, Texas and graduated from Patti Welder High School.  After graduation he attended Victoria College for 1 year.  He married his bride of 68 years, Patricia Louise Brantley on July 28, 1950.  He surrendered his life to the ministry shortly after marriage and moved to Corpus Christi to attend the University of Corpus Christi where he finished his formal education.  His very first church was Good Hope Baptist in Three Rivers, Texas in 1955.  He then pastored for 2 years at Second Baptist Church in Jacinto City-Houston, 4 years at Palmcrest Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, 4 years at West Height Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, 7 years at Townwood Baptist Church in Houston, and lastly for 18 years at Brae Burn Valley in Houston.  He spent his retirement years in Brenham, Texas and the last 3 years in Magnolia.  Jack loved to hunt and fish through the years but his greatest love was to preach the gospel.  He had the privilege to preach in Jamaica in 1960 for 1 month, over 300 souls were saved as well as the chief of police in one particular city.  He traveled the globe sharing his faith with Russia, Switzerland, and Israel.  Approximately 30 men have become ministers under his ministry.

Jack and Patti Walker have 4 children, Dr. Randy Walker and wife Rose, Charles L. Walker and wife Sherry, Sharon Diane Tarbett and husband Bob, and Marliee J. Schulz and husband Keith. They also have 10 grandchildren, Cheryl Walker Flores, Ryan Cross, Michelle Walker Zweiner, Lindsay Tarbett Long, Brian Walker, Ashley Cross, Natalie Tarbett Frazier, Christopher Walker, Max Walker and Rebecca Tarbett Lisle; 15 great grandchildren, Sarah Rojas, Rachel Flores, Keith Flores, Alyssa Zweiner, Haleigh Zweiner, Nathan Zweiner, Brian Walker, Aaron Long, Olivia Long, Isabella Frazier, Jack Frazier, Aubrey Cross, Kailyn Tatum, Serenity Walker, and Andrew Lisle, and 1 great-great grandchild, Tyler Hernandez.  He is also survived by his brother, Homer Walker; niece, Jennifer Walker; and nephew Mark Walker.
