Jacqueline Sue Harrod Shook joined her beloved husband in heaven and went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 7:45 pm. Jackie's life is a remarkable example of how living life with joy can make an eternal impact. Jackie was born on March 12, 1939 in Pulaski County, Arkansas, in what is now the suburbs of Little Rock. The daughter of Adril Wiley Harrod and Pearl Sullivan Harrod, she spent her formative years in Little Rock and as a teenager she was invited to go to church by a friend. It was there at Nalls Memorial Baptist Church where she met the new pastor, Damon Shook, who was just a teenager himself. While at Nalls Memorial and under Damon's preaching, Jackie learned about the love of Jesus and gave her life to Christ. Damon and Jackie began dating and on December 22, 1957, they were married.
Damon wasn't the only one who had an impactful ministry. Jackie led the Women's Ministry at Champion Forest Baptist Church for many years and saw God change many lives through her ministry. She also taught Sunday School for decades and still many of her closest friends today attended her Sunday School class years ago.
Jackie always wanted to be a wife and mother. Her family was the most important part of her life. Her nurturing nature and her unselfish spirit helped make her an amazing mother and supportive wife. Jackie faithfully loved Damon in marriage for 62 years. Her family legacy continues through her four children and their spouses, her 31 grandchildren and her 15 great grandchildren. She was so proud of her family, many who have followed Damon and Jackie in ministry. Mark and Kerry are the lead pastors of Community of Faith and Woodlands Church, respectively and Mona is the children's pastor at Community of Faith. Brent is a practicing physician and many of Jackie's grandchildren are also serving faithfully in ministry.
Jackie has been reunited with Damon, her parents A.W. and Pearl Harrod, her sister Barbara, her brother David Henry and her great grandson Jude along with many thousands of brothers and sisters in Christ. Jackie's favorite verse was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." She repeated this Scripture over and over her last few moments on earth as she entered into glory. Jackie Shook lived her life for Jesus Christ and now she has gained her eternal reward in heaven. There will be a celebration memorial service for Jackie as well as Damon at Community of Faith on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 11:00 am, 16124 Becker Rd., Hockley, TX 77447.
