Jackie Wilson Sheridan was born on December 13, 1940 in Houston, Texas to Jack and Thelma Sheridan. He grew up in Highlands, TX and spent a big part of his childhood going through the ranks in the Boy Scouts. This led to him becoming a camp counselor during his high school summers at the Boy Scout Camps, El Rancho Cima in Wimberly and Camp Strake in Conroe. After graduating from Robert E. Lee High School in 1959, Jack attended Abilene Christian College for a few years and then joined the Marine Corp where eventually he was honorably discharged due to a neck and spinal injury. Once back home, he continued his education at Sam Houston State University where he also received his Master's degree in Agriculture.

Jack's career began in Cypress Fairbanks ISD where he began as a science and shop teacher at Arnold Junior High. Because of the natural born leader that he was, he became an assistant principal at Bleyl Junior High and then moved up to Cypress Creek High School when the school opened in 1977. He continued there until he retired after 26 years. Education was Jack's true passion. He loved his students and truly invested in each one of them. His "5 minutes" of fame came when he was invited to the Oprah Winfrey Show by one of his former students who became Entrepreneur of the Year in 1995. He wanted to thank him for never giving up on him when so many others had. He explained to Jack how he had been diagnosed with dyslexia while in college which explained the troubles he had in high school. He told Jack how much he appreciated his encouragement, for believing in him, and for always pushing him to continue his education and to not quit. This is just one example of the many lives he touched.

Anyone who knew Jack knew what an amazing, one-of-kind man he was. His favorite pastimes were sailing, boating and fishing. He married the love of his life, Marilyn in 1990. He had the sweetest, most gentle soul whose kindness to others was shown daily. He truly showed his servant's heart by taking care of his ailing mother every single day and his wife Marilyn till the day they both passed away. When Marilyn passed last March a part of him died, as well. It gives such peace knowing they are reunited and living with Jesus.

Jack is proceeded in death by his parents, Jack and Thelma, his wife, Marilyn and brother-in-law, A.W. "Woody" Taylor. Jack will be missed by those he leaves behind, his son, Stephen Sheridan and his 2 daughters, Gill Davis and husband Kirk, Tobé Cantu and husband Adam, his sister, Edna Taylor and nieces, Annette Raley and her husband Doug, Lora Hornberger and her husband Blair, Teresa Schleyer and her husband Shane, and his nephews, Roger Taylor and wife Valerie, Bruce Taylor, and Woodie Taylor and wife Deborah. He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren, Hailey, Savanna, Adam, Noah, Seth and Sarai, and 2 great granddaughters, Olivia and Madison Fontenot. He will be greatly missed by his many lifelong friends and colleges, as well.

It's only fitting to end this with the catch phrase so many at Cypress Creek remember him saying, "It's time to goooooooo!"
