It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jacabeth Johnston Scott, who departed this life on August 1, 2024, at the age of 89. Jacabeth was a cherished member of our community, renowned for her warmth, compassion, impeccable sense of style, and red lipstick.

Born on July 11, 1935, in Powell, Texas, Jacabeth left an indelible mark on the lives of many through her kindness and generosity. As a devoted wife, mother, teacher, and friend, she embodied the true meaning of love and dedication.

Jacabeth had a profound passion for playing the piano, storytelling, fishing and spent countless hours encouraging children to discover the joy of reading. Her unwavering faith in Jesus was a guiding light that inspired countless individuals to embrace kindness and compassion.

She was preceded in death by her parents Carl Campbell Johnston and Mary Elizabeth McCleary Johnston; beloved husband, Richard Byrd Scott, Sr.; son, Richard Byrd Scott, Jr. and wife Beryl Anne Nesbitt Scott; her daughter, Sharon Elizabeth Hight; and her sister, Barbara Gaye Perkins and husband Roy Perkins. Jacabeth is survived by her devoted daughter, Sandra Harmeier; her sister, Carla Lea Johnston; and her loving legacy of 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also remembered fondly by numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces, all of whom will honor her memory and carry her legacy forward. Jacabeth's impact extended beyond her immediate family, reaching the hearts of her extended family, close friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation to celebrate Jacabeth's remarkable life will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 p.m., at Klein Funeral Home in Tomball, Texas. The graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at Kerens Cemetery in Kerens, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Boys & Girls Country in her honor, a cause that embodied her spirit of giving and nurturing.

Jacabeth Johnston Scott will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and joy will forever inspire us to carry forward the values she cherished.
