Iva June Cordaro, age 77, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Tomball, TX.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at  Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be Cory Russell, Jim Winter, Jason Craig, Andy Watts, Brad Watts, Jake Watts, and Mark Lind. Rite Of Committal will be held in Shreveport, LA at St. Joseph Cemetery the following day on Wednesday, December 30th at 2 p.m.

June, as everyone called her (Iva was a family name that she rarely went by) was born on December 27, 1942 in Philadelphia, MS. She was fortunate to be born with her twin sister Joyce who was not only a sister, but a friend for life. The two girls grew up on a farm helping their widowed mother for many years. When June was in high school, they moved to Citronelle, AL where she graduated from Citronelle High School. After high school she went to the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

While in college she saw an opportunity to work at Shell Oil, Co. in New Orleans, LA. Her decision to take the position and leave school would change her life forever. From farm girl to an apartment in the French Quarter, June loved the city and made several great friends. One of those friends would later become her husband of 51 years. She met the love of her life, John Cordaro as they both worked for Shell. After marrying, June was forced to take another job and landed at Merrill Lynch. She enjoyed working in the stock market and began a career that lasted almost 20 years.

June became a working mother in late 1979 as she welcomed her only child, John Francis Cordaro, Jr. into the world on a cold rainy day in December. She loved her son more than anything in this world.

In 1985 the family was transferred to Spring, TX where June lived for 35 years. While the transition from New Orleans to Houston was tough, June found new guidance and comfort in her faith. She made the choice to become Catholic while attending Christ the Good Shepherd with her family. After retiring from work, she became a loving and caring housewife. June enjoyed volunteering and attending many Bible studies over the years. She loved to laugh, shop, was about the best cook you would ever know and loved animals, especially her dog Lash, along with many more dogs and cats throughout her life. In later years she cared for her aging mother-in-law for almost 10 years. She took great care of her and loved her like her own mom.

June was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Claudia Majure, her sister, Dr. Joyce Lees and her beloved husband, John F. Cordaro who recently passed away in November.

She is survived by her only son, John F. Cordaro, Jr. and his wife Laura and three grandchildren that she adored. Savannah, Jack and Sophia were three gifts from God that she loved to see every time they would visit.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses for their care over the past month. Thank you also for the countless calls, texts, dinners, cards and other well wishes that were sent to the family over the past few months. Your love and thoughtfulness will always be remembered.
