Irvin August Uphoff, Jr, was born on October 31, 1931 in Belleville, Illinois, and passed away following a long battle with cancer at age 89, peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones in Montgomery, Texas at 10:50pm on September 17, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his parents Irvin and Myrtis Uphoff.

He is survived by his daughters Joan Elaine Uphoff and Janet Ruth Iglesias, husband Gabriel, granddaughters Deirdre Sutor and husband JW, Alexis Roberson and husband Randall, great grandchildren Emma Albrecht, Christian Woolum, Nikolas Zaragoza, Noah Zaragoza, Jackson Roberson, and JJ Kidd, sister Elaine Conner and cats Mitzi and Susie.

Irvin spent most of his life in Dallas, Texas and decided to move closer to his family in Houston, Texas several years ago, buying a beautiful piece of property in Montgomery, Texas. The property was next door to David and Pam Baldwin, pastors who were in the process of building a new church of worship. He assisted Pam and David with the electrical wiring and construction of the new church and attended services regularly. This year he began attending Lifepoint Church where he made many friends who enjoyed bringing him his beloved morning donuts and coffee.

Irvin had so many passions. He had a great love for animals, from fostering cats and kittens, fighting to clean the oceans and save the whales, protecting the wolves and donating to the St. Francis Wolf Sanctuary and the Texas Wolf Dog Project, which was located near his home. Every morning and evening he could hear the wolves howling. One of his favorite wolves at St. Francis was Tala who always gave him kisses when he visited. For many years he fought for clean air alongside the TCEQ and through his connection met Erin Brokovich. He spent over 30 years with the Dallas County Sheriff and owned his own consulting business for HVAC systems. He passed down his love of trains taught to him by his father to his daughters. There were many trips with his daughters riding the trains, meeting the engineers and conductors, and learning about the mechanics of trains. He and his daughters often "flattened" pennies on the train tracks near his grandmother's house as keepsakes. He was a member of the Belleville, Illinois and Dallas, Texas Masonic Lodges and was in the process of joining the Montgomery, Texas Masonic Lodge.

Irvin was very proud of his daughters and his grandchildren. He loved his neighbor, friend and devoted pastor, Pam Baldwin.
