It is with deep sadness that the family and friends of Irvin Eugene "Irv" Grayson, 90, announce his passing on March 20, 2017 at his home in Spring, Texas.
Born on December 29,1926 in the dustbowl town of Moorland, Oklahoma, Irv grew up living the hardscrabble life of an Oklahoma farm boy. His enterprising nature first became evident when he sold plums for pennies at the tender age of 10 years. Following the wheat harvest on his own at age 14 and then joining the Navy with the onset of WWII, Irv found his own way in the world.
After the war, Irv went to school and found his career in Sales and Marketing with Phillips 66. His hard work and focus earned him leadership positions in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Brussels, Belgium. Upon retirement from Phillips, he started his own company and soon became known as the "Father of Carbon Black."
Reluctantly retiring from the working world in 2007, Irv tried to keep busy socializing and volunteering with his wife Nancy with his dear circle of friends, playing with the computer, and traveling.
Irv Grayson is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Grayson and step-son, David Patton. In addition, his three children from his marriage to Marjorie Marie Grayson, Janice Kay Hinton of Richardson, Texas, Debra Grayson of Rheinbach, Germany and Richard Owen Grayson of Spring, Texas. Irv has 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren living in California, New York, Michigan and Texas.
