Drescher, Irma Lydia Schlecht, 89, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on June 8, 2021. Irma was born in Winterthur, Switzerland on August 29, 1931. She was a compassionate, giving, kind, and gentle woman.

She met the love of her life, Bruno, in Winterthur. They had a small wedding ceremony there before Bruno came to America to pursue a job with Boeing.

Irma travelled to America by ship a year later. They settled in North Bergen, New Jersey near relatives and celebrated a second wedding ceremony on Feb. 18, 1955. They then moved to Allentown, Penn. where their two daughters were born. Bruno's job took the family to Huntsville, Alabama; Cocoa Beach, Florida; and finally to Houston. Irma loved the adventure of moving to new places, making friends, and joining the local Swiss-American Society. She was so proud of her heritage and of becoming an American citizen.Wherever she lived, she was known as an amazing cook, baker, and a wonderful hostess. Everyone lined up to get a taste of her delicious Swiss Christmas cookies!

She had various jobs throughout her life: decorating homes for a builder, working at two different Swiss bakeries in Houston owned by friends: Roland's Bakery and Andre's Tea Room. She also worked as an assistant helping special education students on the school bus. Her first priority, though, was always her family.

Irma and Bruno retired to the hill country resort of Horseshoe Bay where they became active in church and community activities. One of Irma's proudest achievements was starting a food drive at her church which benefitted the nearby community of Marble Falls. She served on the board of the Helping Hands Center of Marble Falls. She was a member of the Arts and Crafts Club at her church. Every year, they hosted a bizarre with all proceeds from the crafts they made and sold going to the Helping Hands Center.

Her hobbies included: gardening (what a green thumb!), arts and crafts, cross-stitching, cooking, baking, painting, listening to music, reading, writing letters, and helping others, including animals.

She is survived by the daughters she so lovingly raised: Becky Drescher of Spring and Debra Drescher of Austin. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Travis

Farst and wife Natalie of Dallas; Tyler Farst of Austin; and Sara Beth Farst and husband Amir Pirzadeh of Houston. She is also survived by great grandson Atreus Pirzadeh. She is preceded in death by her husband Bruno.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers and nurses at Wood Glen Court Assisted Living of Spring and Devotion Hospice of Tomball for all the loving care they gave our Mom.

Irma will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love will live forever in our hearts.
