Iris Marie Strathdee, 55, of Houston, Texas passed away after a long illness on Friday, May 18th.

Iris was born in Dallas, Texas to Joe and Marie Colson, fifth in line behind siblings Diane, Jody, Mike and Steve. The majority of her career (25 + years) was spent in the funeral industry administering pre-need trust policies. Iris was an excellent pianist and played for Temple Oaks Baptist Church in Houston for decades.

in 1981, Iris married Alex and they had 36 rich years together. In 1986, they gave birth to a baby girl named Megan and they became Team Strathdee. 24 years later, Megan married Aaron and they became Team Strathdee-Hiller. Grandbabies, Asher and Abbie, came along in the next few years and Iris loved that their family of 3 had doubled to a family of 6.

The resounding similarity in stories from all who knew her is that she lived out gratitude, her love was fierce and lavish, and she yearned for others to know their worth. "Love your guts", "I love you like crazy", and "I love you no matter what" were her mottos. She will be missed more than words can express.

Iris will be forever loved by her husband, Alex, daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Aaron Hiller, grandchildren, Asher and Abbie, mother, Marie Colson, two sisters, Diane Payne and Jody Inman, two brothers, Mike Colson and Steve Colson, their spouses and a host of nieces and nephews, and by many close friends.
