Obituary

Irene Frances Wiebe was born in Goessel, Kansas on October 19, 1926, and passed away in Spring, Texas on May 12, 2019.

Irene was a gifted musician. There wasn't a sheet of music written that she couldn't sight read and there wasn't a tune she couldn't play by ear.  Her voice was unmatched by any singer of her era, and she even sang and played the piano on her own Radio show in Kansas in the 1950's.  She also taught music for decades, and was a master bridge player, but most of all, Irene loved her family fiercely. It's been said that she had the softest lap that any grandmother ever had.  The love she had for her two children is a treasure they will have forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Linda Wedel; and her siblings, Goldie McMurray, Harold Wedel, Arnold Wedel, and Gilbert Wedel.

Irene is survived by her children, Linda Medcalf and husband Ron, and David Wiebe and wife Terri; grandchildren, Kris Nason and husband Greg, Beth Lee and husband Andrew, Ben Wiebe and wife Cara, and Brooke Wiebe; great-grandchildren, Amy, Hunter, Charlotte, Archer, Harper, Riker, and River; and her brothers, Rod Wedel, Don Wedel, and Bob Wedel.

Irene's family will receive friends and loved ones at a visitation beginning at 1pm, to be directly followed by a funeral service at 2 pm, at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Spring, TX 77379.  Burial will follow in Klein Memorial Park on 2920.
