Hubert Neumann was born on the 21st March 1929 in Gross Suechen Wohlau Germany to Hermann and Martha Neumann. He was the second of three children. While in Germany, he learned the trade of bricklaying. In 1952 he was able use this trade to build his parent's house together with his father. In 1955, while visiting a neighboring town with a friend, Hubert saw a woman walking down the street and told his friend that this was the woman he was going to marry. He then asked his friend to go and talk to her for him. She gave the friend her address and that same evening Hubert went home and wrote her a letter. She later agreed to meet him. On the 20th of January 1956, six months later, Hubert and Christel were married. In 1957, they emigrated to Canada and lived in Vancouver. His first child, Aribert, was born there. In the Fall of 1962, they emigrated to the United States. His next two children, Betty and Toni, were born in Texas. In 1964 Hubert used his trade to build the house he and Christel currently occupied. They were long time members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church and then Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
