Howard  Noel Garrett

Howard was born April 14, 1947, in Kermit, Texas. He was the first child in the Garrett family, followed by his twin sisters Suzanne and Dianne.

Howard is survived by his wife Sandra Hodge Garrett and sons Jeffrey Garrett and wife Angel, and Jeremy Garrett. He has 1 sister Suzanne Kaharek and husband David and 1 brother-in-law Donald Charles Hodge and wife Karen, as well as several nieces, nephews other family members.

Howard graduated from UT Austin in 1969 with a finance degree. He loved UT and still does. Every Saturday, his family would be placed in front of the TV ready to cheer UT on! Beside UT, he was a Houston Astros fan. He watched every game faithfully. He made2 trips to Cooperstown, one of which Bagwell was inducted into the Hall Of Fame. He was lucky enough to go to the World Series where the Astros played. These were exciting times in Houston. Along this journey of life he found another love – snorkeling in the ocean. The blue water was so enticing. He and Sandra managed to go on at least 26 cruises all over the Caribbean. The whole family snorkeled together. Howard and Sandra never got tired of the gorgeous blue waters.

Before entering college, he and his great friend Ed Wayman went to tryouts for the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals. Ed was given Scholarship to St. Mary's in San Antonio and Howard was offered a scholarship to Ranger Junior College. Both chose to enter college. Howard went to A&I for 2 years before entering UT and finishing, and Ed went on to St, Mary's.

After being married 3 years, Howard and Sandra welcomed a little boy, Jeffery and then 4 years later another little boy Jeremy came along. Life couldn't get much better and family always came first. The Garretts bought their first house in Katy, Texas. After that moved to Oklahoma City and Austin, Texas but could not forget Houston. Back we came! Howard worked for Lincoln National Insurance. Howard started his career in the gas compressor business with his brother-in-law David Kaharek for his company "INCUT". Then he went to work BD Holt and loved it. He continues until retirement many years later, during which he made many lifelong friends.

But God stopped it! The 1 ^st 5 days after this, he had 5 blessed job offers. Howard had gained a reputation as an honorable salesman and as a man true to his word. It was the best thing that ever happened to him,

When Howard met Sandra their 1 ^st date was a college football game. He talked about his family so lovingly. He was very funny buy he was also a godly man. He was a gentle giant. When he spoke, people listened. He was a great father to his boys and a loving husband to Sandra. They were married on June 14, 1969 and were blessed with 52 years and 8 months. They were members and "belonged" to the Methodist Church. Howard served God faithfully as a Trustee, Sunday School Teacher and Lay Minister.
