Howard Lynn Atkins, 74, passed from this life Monday, November 13, 2023 in Houston, TX. He was born July 18, 1949 to Dewey and Marjorie Atkins in Brazoria, TX.
He was a rambunctious and outgoing person in his early life. Volunteering for the Marine core in 1968, where he spent two tours in Vietnam before deciding to end his military career in 1972 to focus on family. He spent a large majority of his life focusing on his Family and Career. He married the love of his life Delores G. Atkins in 1989. Whom he spent the next 27 years with until her death in June of 2016.
He was always somewhat of a workaholic making sure everything was taken care of and that he was always prepared for what may come. Outside of home and family, work was treated as a hobby. He enjoyed the day to day bustle and the building of the oil and gas industry. His professional career was spent building one Fab shop after another. With an emphasis on treating people with dignity and respect. He enjoyed seeking talented individuals and cultivating skills in young upstarts. Helping everywhere he could. He spent his later years enjoying life spending time with his children and pets. Enjoying every moment, he could. Even confronting his fear of the doctor to make sure he could keep as much time as possible. He was a Strong Man, Loving Husband, Fantastic Father.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Merle Alexander and his wife, Delores G. Atkins
Those left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Ashley A. Atkins and Margoria Hutchinson; son, Howard L. Atkins Jr.; brother, Thomas Atkins and all those who came to know him in life.
A visitation will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 9:00 am with a funeral service to start promptly at 10:00 am at Klein Funeral Home-Champions. Burial will follow at 1:00 pm in Pankey Cemetery 6341 FM 1696 W. Iola, TX 77861.
