HERBERT WAYNE DURHAM, 85
Born October 26, 1933 in the Sunnydale Community just outside Colmesneil, Texas. Entered his eternal home March 05. 2019 in Cypress, Texas. Herb was born to Percell Cliet Durham and Falbia Gibson Durham. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Fain Durham, sisters Billie Geelan and Evelyn Watson.
Herb was a proud E-2 Fireman's Apprentice in the United States Navy serving on the USS Shea from 1955-1957, and served in the reserves from 1957-1961.
He retired from the Houston Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and the New Caney Independent School District. He was an avid 42, 84 and 88 dominos player and could be found 2-3 days a week at the local senior centers or Cypress United Methodist Church playing with his friends. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, and traveled many miles to watch them play.
Herb is a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Humble, Texas where he was voted Father of the Year, and was a Church Greeter who you could always find at the front door welcoming members and visitors with his awesome smile. Herb also recently attended Community of Faith in Cypress, Texas.
Herb is survived by his wife of 61 years Marilyn Follis Durham, Cypress, Texas whom he married on February 07. 1958 in Alvin, Texas; Daughter Denise and husband Kenny Grayson Cypress, Texas; and his son Gary Durham and wife Melony, Lorena, Texas.
The lights of his life, his Grandchildren -- Angela and Erich Burrer, Cypress, Texas; Cory Ludke and Mehgan Blanton, Houston, Texas; Amber and Rodney Hopkins, Tomball, Texas; Kelly and Wes Ebbers, Hempstead, Texas; Casey Grayson and Marissa Lehman, Houston, Texas; Brent and Lexi Durham, Augusta, Georgia; Cody Durham, Lorena, Texas and Hayden Durham, Lorena, Texas.
His world revolved around his 8 GREAT Grandchildren -- Jonathon Burrer, Hannah Ebbers, Aiden Sykora, Kylie Hopkins, Tanner Ebbers, Ledger Durham, Kinley Hopkins and Easton Ebbers.
Herb is also survived by his sister Betty Russaw, Lufkin, Texas; and his brother Clarence "Butch" Durham, Windcrest, Texas; as well as a long list of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Vitas Hospice for the amazing care you provided and for being at our side and helping us through this difficult time.
Funeral services will be under the direction of Klein Funeral Home - Cypress 9719 Wortham Blvd. Houston, Texas 77065. Viewing at 1:00 Saturday March 09, 2019 with service following at 2:00 in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Milton Pool, officiating.
