Obituary

Henry Louis Wendland "Hank," 74, of Tomball, went to live with our Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 5th, 2020.

Hank was born October 29, 1945 in Robstown, TX as the 5th born of 6 children. Hank was raised as a country boy on the family farm. Along with his siblings, he was an early and accomplished participant of the now famous Nueces County Junior Livestock show. After graduating from the Corpus Christi College Academy (IWA). Hank worked most of his life and retired from ASARCO/Encycle Texas Refinery. During his working years, Hank spent much of his free time with his children participating in the local 4-H program as well as coaching and officiating youth sports.

Upon his retirement, Hank moved to Tomball, TX where, on December 31, 2005, he was married to Connie Lane. Together they blended their lives and families, and loved each other dearly until his final day. Being the "busybody" that he was, Hank enjoyed much of his retirement as a home gardener, taking much pride in his lawn and houseplants. He also kept himself busy as the "go-to-guy" for many of their friends and neighbors, maintaining many of their yards and always giving a helping hand. As an avid bowler, a hobby he picked up in the late 90's, Hank won multiple city, state, and national tournaments over the years, and even served as president of the local bowling association. Hank was an active member of the Woodlands Church Northpointe, where he proudly served by using his famous "Wendland smile" to greet guests as they arrived.

Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Thomas Sr. & Anna Marie Wendland; his siblings, Blanche Wilkerson; Margie Conaway; Paul Thomas "Tommy" Wendland Jr.; Peggy Biddy; and son-in-law Charlie Vaughn.

Left to cherish Hank's memory are his loving wife, Connie Wendland; his children Corina Hoelscher & husband, Les; Denise Tweedy & husband, Dave; Stacy Wendland & wife Wyndee; Todd Wendland; Cheryl Devine & husband Mike; Richard Wendland & wife, Veronica; Rowdy Wendland; Michele Vaughn; Julie Mouton & Husband, Brad; his sister, JoAnn McCormick & husband, Philip; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Hank's life will be held at 2:30pm, Saturday, August 8th at Chapel in the Woods of the Woodlands Church. Rev. Dustin Rietzel will officiate. Due to Covid-19, the chapel will be limited to 75 people, and facemasks will be required.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to www.donate3.cancer.org
