Obituary

Henry (Hank) August Petri, Sr., 89, of Houston, Texas, devoted husband and loving father and grandfather, passed away on January 1, 2023.  Hank was born on September 24, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Henry August and Anna Marie (Lechstein) Petri.

After two years of military service in the Army, Hank went to work for Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis. He transferred to Houston in 1965 to prepare for the opening of the brewery and later retired after a 43-year career.

He loved faith, family, music, gardening, and traveling.  A member of Prince of Peace Catholic Community for nearly 50 years, Hank freely volunteered his time and talents in numerous ministries at the church and in the community.  He loved to sing, joining choirs from elementary school through adulthood, and his distinctive voice could be heard singing at every Mass.  Hank was an avid gardener and loved tending to his vegetable garden and caring for the landscaping at home and at church.  He spent his retirement years traveling extensively with Carol and often reminisced over his photo albums from the trips.

Hank is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Carol Joan (Forbes); son Henry, Jr., and wife Sharon; son Joseph and wife Valerie; son James and wife Tonya; daughter Laura Trubey and husband Brad; grandchildren Julia, Trevor, Jacob, Jenna, Jason, Eric, Benjamin, and Emma; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.  Being an only child, Hank wanted a big family and was quite successful in that endeavor.  He was a firm believer that family always came first, so Hank and Carol always made time to celebrate the special moments in all their children's and grandchildren's lives.
