Henry Gomez

February 25, 1954 – May 15, 2020

A man who deeply loved the Lord and everyone whole heartily.

"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." Matthew 22:36-39

Henry "Rick" Gomez, born to Serbando and Irene Gomez in Houston, Texas and resided in Cypress, Texas. He was the oldest of six. Henry attended San Jacinto Technical High School where after graduating he started his lifetime career as a piping designer. He passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer stage IV. He was so concerned about leaving his loved ones behind and yet, with his faith in God, he knew God will always be with them. With his deep faith in God, he was so much at peace and looking forward to being in Heaven with his heavenly family.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Gomez, son, James Gomez, father Serbando Gomez and brother Serbando Gomez Jr. Treasuring his memories are his loving wife Alma Romo Gomez, his wonderful children, Michael Gomez and wife Theresa, Lisa Gomez, Angela Ponce and her husband Manuel, Teresa Flores and her husband Mike, Sara Gomez and her wife Jacquelynn Duron, and Rebecca Gomez and her husband Anthony Krasnick. His wonderful step-children, David Romo and Eric Romo. His wonderful grandchildren, Kai Gomez, Laila Gomez, Chris Gomez and wife Priscilla, Marissa Gomez, Joey Zuniga, Andrea Gomez, Klarissa Ponce, Josiah Ponce, Angelina Flores, Jon Flores, Jacob Gomez, Max Krasnick, and Felix Krasnick. His other family members, mother Irene Gomez, brother David Gomez, sisters Gloria Salazar, Anna Gomez, and Sylvia Mendez. And numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and God-children.

In his career, Henry worked for several engineering firms but his longest duration and latest was at Mustang/Wood Engineering where he worked for almost 32 years. His faith in God grew stronger when he started working at Mustang where the owners were all Christians and he met a lot of lifetime Christian and non-Christian friends. He was truly blessed to work at Mustang with such a wonderful atmosphere with weekly bible studies.

Henry was known to love everyone, always saw the good in everyone, kind and compassionate, great sense of humor, witty personality, always thinking positive, an encourager, and had a very sensitive heart. He loved going to church, attending Christian Concerts, traveling, enjoying the outdoors, and going to classic car shows. He volunteered several years at Mustang working with an organization, Private Sectors Initiatives, which reached out to underprivileged families doing home repairs for the elderly or people with disabilities. He also got St. Christopher's youth group to work with Private Sector Initiatives to help students reach out to help those in need by doing house repairs.  He was for several years a Sunday school teacher for high schoolers at St. Christopher's Catholic Church and Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He loved reaching out to teenagers. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
