With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Henry Elkin, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, retired police officer, and loyal friend. After a courageous 20-month battle with ALS, Henry passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, strength, and service that will never be forgotten.

For 38 years, Henry proudly served his community as a police officer, dedicating his career to protecting and serving others with integrity, courage, and compassion. He concluded his distinguished law enforcement career by spending his final two working years as a Field Agent with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE), where he continued to mentor, support, and serve the law enforcement community. He wore the badge with honor, earning the respect of his fellow officers and the countless lives he touched throughout his career.

While serving others was one of his greatest callings, nothing compared to the love he had for his family. Henry shared an extraordinary love story with his beloved wife, Joanne. She was the love of his life, his greatest partner, and his constant through every chapter. Their bond was built on unwavering love, laughter, and devotion.

Henry was an incredibly proud father to his daughter, Kelsi, whom he often joked he "raised to be the son he never had." Together they shared countless adventures, from fishing trips to life's biggest milestones. Their bond was one of friendship, respect, and unconditional love.

One of the greatest joys of Henry's life came with the arrival of his granddaughter, Bexley. Becoming "Pop" brought out an even softer side of him, and she quickly became the light of his world. The love he had for her was immeasurable, and every moment spent with her became a treasured memory.

If Henry wasn't with his family, chances are you could find him on the water. Saltwater fishing wasn't simply a hobby—it was his happy place. He loved being the captain of his boat, taking family and friends out, making sure everyone was catching fish, laughing, and creating memories. Whether the fish were biting or not, Henry believed a day on the water was always a good day when it was spent with the people he loved.

Long before his love of saltwater fishing, Henry spent many weekends in the rodeo arena. He competed in calf roping and team roping and could often be found traveling to rodeos with his buddies, doing what he loved and building lifelong friendships along the way. Whether he was in the saddle or behind the wheel of his boat, Henry was happiest when he was outdoors, surrounded by the people he loved.

Henry also knew how to enjoy life. He never turned down a good margarita, always appreciated a glass of Gentleman Jack, and could make just about anyone laugh with his quick wit and playful personality. He loved to cut up, tell stories, and make every gathering more fun. To know Henry was to know someone who could make strangers feel like old friends.

He was a loving son, caring brother and brother-in-law, proud uncle, devoted father-in-law, and a friend to so many who became family. His generosity, humor, loyalty, and larger-than-life spirit left an imprint on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Henry is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne Elkin; his devoted daughter, Kelsi Boyd, and his son-in-law, Jason Boyd, whom Henry loved as his own son from the very first day they met; his cherished granddaughter, Bexley Boyd, who brought immeasurable joy to his life; his father, William Elkin; his brothers, Joe Elkin and wife Cassie, and Bailey Elkin; his sisters-in-law, Roxanne Roth and husband Jay Roth, and Laura Allen, whom he considered sisters and stepsister, Diane Gant.

He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews: Callie, Riley, David (Sarah), Rhonda, Junior, Angela, Audrey, Kellie, Kristie, and Korie, along with countless extended family members and dear friends who became family throughout his life.

Henry was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Elkin; his parents-in-law, Robert and Geneva Allen, who loved Henry as one of their own sons; his stepmother, Bebe Elkin; and his nephew, Nick Elkin.

Although ALS took far more than it ever should have, it never took Henry's heart, his determination, or the incredible love he had for his family. His courage and strength throughout his battle inspired everyone around him.

Henry's absence leaves an immeasurable void, but his legacy will live on in every cast of a fishing line, every toast shared among friends, every family gathering filled with laughter, and in the countless stories that will continue to be told for generations.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
