Helen was born in 1936 in Vernon TX to Jepsie and Hazel Douglas. She started school early and skipped 7th grade. She graduated high school in fort worth at age 16. She was in the marching band and played the flute, piccolo and was a majorette. She met Dwight L. Suiter downtown Ft. Worth at the candy store where she worked. They married in 1953 and moved their first Military station in El Paso TX. Subsequently they lived at various AFBs from Austin, Fort Worth, and then to Marshall Space Center in Alabama for NASA. A daughter was born at each location. In 1962 they moved their family to Deer Park to work at NASA in Clear Lake to raise their children. Helen was very active in her daughters' lives, PTA and room mother and attended business classes at San Jacinto Jr. College. In the 70s she worked at Bayshore Hospital, then did payroll for Fingers Furniture. She later took a position at Diamond Shamrock Credit union in Deer Park where she eventually retired as VP. Helen was very active in her grandchildrens' and great-grandchildren's lives. As a Tomball Elementary volunteer, she dressed every year as a character in a new childrens book and subsequently met many children Authors. She was known as Mom or Nanny by many who were not related.

Helen is preceded in death by parents Hazel and Jepsie Douglas, husband Dwight, daughters Pamela and Sandi, grandson, Michael Shaun, brothers Hershel and Larry Douglas, and sister Louise Saye.

She is survived by daughters Terri and Vince Kimble, Tammy Suiter and David Knoll, Granddaughters Brittney, Emily, Bethany, Krisiti and Grandsons: Jacob, Corky, Trey, Ryan and Dustin. She has many beloved nieces and nephews and 24 great grandchildren. She was loved by many and will truly be missed.

Visitation will be held at 9am with a funeral service for Helen beginning at 10am on Friday, August 15, 2025 at New Hope Baptist Church, 32103 Decker Prairie Rd, Pinehurst, TX 77362.
