Helen Blair Kowalczyk passed away at home on October 22, 2019 in the loving presence of her husband and son in law, David.  She was preceded in death by her three older brothers Lynn Cleveland, Doyle Cleveland, Paul Blair and Helen's daughter Jennifer.  Helen was born on January 10, 1943 to Francis Parkins and Foy Blair in Corpus Christi, Texas.  She graduated from Flour Bluff High School in 1961, where she was cheerleader and Homecoming Queen.
After graduation and the loss of her father (1958) she and her mother relocated to Fort Worth, Texas where she worked at General Dynamics and met Ron Kowalczyk.  They married December 28, 1968.  She became a mother to Jennifer Blair Kowalczyk on April 27, 1971.  After a few moves around the country, Helen and Ron settled in Houston, Texas in 1973 and made it their home.  Helen worked briefly as a recruiter and then had the great honor to work for Compaq Computer Company / HP from 1987 to her retirement in 2005.

Helen had an outgoing personality and always cared deeply for everyone she came to know.  Her compassion and interest in people led to a lifetime of deep friendships which she cherished.  Helen also loved dogs and showed compassion for them all.  If life, Helen's greatest joys were her beautiful daughter, Jennifer, ad grandchildren Katherine and Joshua Newberry.  She loved them deeply and was a devoted mother and grandmother.  Helen was also an active member of Saint Dunstan's and enjoyed arranging the flower baskets with the Petal Pushers.  Helen was an avid reader of books and belonged to several book clubs.

Helen is survived by husband, Ron Kowalczyk, son-in-law David Newberry and grandchildren Kate and Josh.  She will also be greatly missed by her extended family (Slaby's, Selles', Newberry's), longtime childhood friends, Greenwood Forest neighbors, St. Dunstan's family, and of course, we cannot overlook her dachshunds Mildred and Gracie ages 17 and 13 years.
