Obituary

Helen Ann Dedek Sosa, 72, passed away on Thursday, January 30, in Houston, TX, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, Helen was a warm, kind, and generous soul who touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Born on August 25, 1952, at Polly Ryan Hospital in Richmond, TX, Helen grew up on a cotton farm in the Fairchilds / Longpoint area of Fort Bend County, TX, and was raised in the Presbyterian Faith.  She graduated from Needville High School in 1970 before attending Sam Houston State University and graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education December 19, 1973. Following graduation, she lived in San Antonio and worked as a Medical Administrator in the Medical Arts Building, where she met her husband of nearly 44 years in 1977, and married March 12, 1981.  Helen was blessed with five children, whom were the joy of her life.  She briefly lived in Waco, before settling in Houston in 1991.

Helen had a deep love for music, especially Elvis, and found joy in life's simple pleasures—sharing a meal of her favorite Mexican food and watching a good romantic comedy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Tillie (Bienek) Dedek, her Half Sisters Ruth Bilski Barr and Shirley Bilski Stauber, and in-laws, Ramon Francisco Sosa and Clotilde (Borges) Sosa.

Helen is survived by her beloved husband, Ramon Aurelio Sosa, daughter Shannon Lee Sosa Parker (Phillip), sons Jonathan Ray Sosa, Jonas Shane Sosa, Joshua Edward Sosa (Crystal), Justin Wayne Sosa (Lupita), and grandchildren, Emily Ann Parker, Alyssa Lee Parker, Easton Daniel Parker and Sabrina Ray Sosa.  As well as, her sister Vickie Dedek Hackstedt (Otto) of Richmond, brother Henry Dedek (Donna) of Fulshear, Half Sisters Dorothy Bilski Meeler of Montgomery, Delta Bilski Hoot of Woodville, Tillie Bilski Childress of Richards, Aunt Margaret Bienek Phillips of Katy, Aunt Rita Jo Nielsen Dedek of Franklin, TN, brother in law Juan Sosa (Virginia) of New Braunfels, sister in law Celia Sosa Harrington (Frank) of Nordheim, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her unconditional love and kindness will remain forever in our hearts.
