Heeshin Lee Suh was born in Jangsu, Korea, on May 19, 1924, and passed away at the age of 99 in Houston, Texas, on December 1, 2023, surrounded by her three children.

Heeshin was an extraordinary woman.  She wasn't just a wife, a mother, a grandmother or a great-grandmother; she was the heartbeat of her family, a woman who lived her life with an unparalleled zest that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Heeshin, a cancer survivor, lived with a spirit that can only be described as boundless. Energetic and vibrant, she approached every day with a contagious enthusiasm, infusing joy into the lives of those around her. Her love knew no bounds, and her family was the center of her universe. As a wife, she exemplified the true meaning of supporting her spouse with unwavering dedication.

She was not only a mom but a guiding light, nurturing her children with wisdom, compassion, and an unwavering belief in their potential. Her legacy continues through the generations she touched, extending to her role as a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother.

Heeshin's thirst for knowledge was insatiable, leading her to get a master's degree in her 60's and to explore a myriad of interests. From painting to calligraphy, line dancing to playing musical instruments, cooking to gardening, yoga and meditation to Ping-Pong and mastering hand-acupuncture and reflexology, she became a polymath of life's pursuits. Her passion for learning not only enriched her own life but became an inspiration for others to embrace the beauty of continuous growth.

In her artistic pursuits, Heeshin's talents were infinite. Her paintings reflected the vivid colors of her spirit, her calligraphy echoed the grace with which she lived, and her embroidery told stories of patience and precision. She danced through life with the same grace that she displayed in line-dancing, and her culinary skills will forever linger in our memories.

Beyond her accomplishments, Heeshin was a pillar of strength and compassion, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her generosity knew no limits, and her impact on the lives she touched are countless.  In 2022, she received the Distinguished Citizen Award for her exemplary life of overcoming cultural differences, ethnicity disadvantage, gender discrimination and ageism as an inspirational Korean-American.  She became known as everyone's "Role Model of Graceful Ageing".

Heeshin Suh lived her life to the fullest and led a remarkable life, a life dedicated to love, family, and the pursuit of knowledge. She is preceded in death by her husband, Suksoon Suh; son, Dick Suh; and parents, Sooyoung and Daekiwha Lee.

Heeshin is survived by her children, Euisoo Suh and wife Kim, Kyungsun Suh and wife Hyunjoo, and Sally Vardy and husband Ron; daughter-in-law, Okkyoung Suh; grandchildren, Ryung Suh and wife Yono, Justin Suh, Lucas Suh and wife Leilani, Michelle Buck and husband Quentin, Danielle Suh, Samuel Vardy; and great-grandchildren, Justice TW Suh, Jason TM Suh, Joshua TJ Suh, Caleb TJ Suh, Justin Suh, and Zoe Suh.

A funeral service for Heeshin will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Klein Funeral Home Cy-Fair, 9719 Wortham Blvd., Houston, TX 77065.
