?Hazel Jeanne Willis was born October 18, 1929, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late John B. Willis and Mary Ellen Higgins Willis. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her three sisters, Grace (Harold) Willis Held, Claire Vera Willis, and Rita Mae (Joseph) Willis Clavijo. She was a devoted aunt to Harold J. Held, Jr., deceased, Ronald J. (Leah) Held, Joseph M. (Donna) Clavijo III, and Karen (Dan) Clavijo Moore. "Nanan" is also survived by numerous great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great nephews, and great-great-nieces.
Hazel graduate from Sacred Heart of Jesus High School in New Orleans. She started her career with Shell Oil Company at the age of 18 working as a clerk in the mail room. Thirty-eight years later, she retired from Shell as a Senior Analyst in the Land Department. After retiring, she worked as a volunteer docent at the historic Beauregard-Keyes House in the French Quarter. She also sang in the choir at St. Patrick Cathedral for many years.
Hazel was a loving and devoted sister, aunt, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 29, at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 11507 Huffmeister Road, Houston, TX 77065. A committal service, followed by entombment, will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 4900 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA 70001.
