Harry Steven "Steve" Hinde

Born May 7, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN. ~ Died May 24, 2023, in Spring, TX.

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, musician, and Renaissance Man. Steve was a generous, loving soul with a jokester's twinkle in his eye, and was quick with a pun.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Harry John "Jack" Hinde and Rose Eileen Gipson Hinde, as well as his sister Jane.  Jack Hinde was a 1st generation immigrant, who moved to America as a teenager from Ecclesall Bierlow, Yorkshire, a neighborhood SW of Sheffield, England.  Steve was the big brother to younger siblings Jane Elizabeth Hinde and Phillip Charles Hinde.  Steve graduated from West High School in Rockford, IL, where he played clarinet in the band and lettered in both basketball and track and field.  Although he narrowly missed completing a college degree, Steve continued learning throughout his life, teaching himself to code, learning college calculus and theoretical physics, and becoming an excellent cook.

Steve married three times, first to the late Teddi Godlewski Tuttle Buttry and then to the late Nan Ellen Fredrickson Clark.  He and his third wife, the late Susan Bushnell Hinde, married in October 1971.  They were married 45 years before her death in 2017.  Steve and Sue began their married life in DeKalb, IL, where Steve worked for Ideal Industries.  After a winter with multiple blizzards and six feet of snow, they decided to move to Houston.  Once settled in Houston, Steve worked for Gray Tool Company of Houston, where he computerized the inventory system in the 1980's.  Later, he worked for Weatherford International for over 20 years before retiring.  Steve was unpretentious, enjoyed grilling and cooking, loved fishing, watching kung fu movies, reading, listening to music, and watching Sci-Fi shows. Steve was fiercely independent and just a little stubborn, two things that served him well as a widower maneuvering through a pandemic.  Dad was perfectly imperfect, and his sweetness and kindness grew larger as he aged.

Steve is survived by his seven children: Todd Steven Tuttle (Kimberlee); Timm Scott Tuttle (Eri); Bradley Nathan Clark (Tracy); Stephanie Ellen Clark Voet (Chris); Daniel Earle Hinde (Rosanna); Melissa Lyn Hinde Cole (Andy); and Andrew John Hinde (Nicole).  Steve's 15 grandchildren knew him as "Granddad": Max, Trinity, and Cass Tuttle; Erika and Megumi Tuttle; Josie and Lexi Clark; Milo Voet; David and Annie Hinde; Madilyn, Jack, and Drew Cole; and Connor and Rhys Hinde.

A visitation will be held on June 8, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home located at 16141 Champion Forest Drive, Klein, Texas 77379.  A graveside service will be held on June 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Klein Memorial Park - Tomball located at 32539 State Highway 249, Pinehurst, Texas 77362.
