Harriet Naomi Swienton was born in Aurora, Nebraska on February 14, 1928.  She was born a twin, but her twin brother was still born.  She passed away on June 27, 2021 in Spring, Texas.  Her father was William Clayton Cooper and her mother was Bertha Alice Gulliver Cooper.  She is preceded in death her husband Chester Swienton, her parents, her sister Helen Davis and her brothers William Cooper and Paul Cooper.   She is survived by her son, David Swienton and her sister Edith Allegrezza and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harriet grew up on a family farm in Aurora, where she developed her love for animals.  She graduated from Aurora High School in 1946.   While in high school, she was a member of the pep squad.  Shortly after high school, she taught in a one room schoolhouse for a year.   She then moved to Chicago where she met and married Chester Swienton in 1952.   They had one son, David.   They were married for 47 years until Chester's death in 1999.  While in Chicago, Harriet worked at Stouffer's Restaurants for over 20 years.   She enjoyed the social aspect of the job.  She kept in contact with many of her favorite customers and co-workers long after she left waitressing.  She was also a member of Foster Avenue Baptist Church where she was Sunday School secretary and business secretary.  In 1977 the family moved to Spring, Texas.  As a member of Spring Baptist Church, she especially active with her Sunday School class.  She would speak fondly of the Bible discussions and fellowships the class had.  She cherished the friendships she made in that class.   Harriet loved animals, especially cats.  It was rare when there would not be at least one cat in the home.  She also loved craft hobbies, especially needlework.  The house is adorned with needlework she had done.  Almost all of the family Christmas tree ornaments are ones that she handmade.  She also enjoyed word puzzles, especially crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader.
