Harold G. "Jake" Jacobson, 87, of Houston passed away on October 9, 2022 less than four weeks after losing his wife of 65 years, Rose. Jake was born on December 9, 1934 in Brady, Texas to Arch and Matilda Skinner Jacobson. He graduated from Melvin High School in 1952 as class valedictorian. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate of Texas A&M, Class of 1956, which he followed with Post Graduate work in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at the University of Houston. He spent three years in the USAF and was honorably discharged as a Captain. He retired in 1995 after a 39-year career with Shell Oil Company in chemical and refining management.

He is survived by his three children, Laura Hicks and husband Charles, Gregg Jacobson and wife Missy, and Amy Rivers and husband Thomas M.D. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Emily and Matthew Jacobson, and Trent, Trevor, Lexi, and Ashlyn Rivers. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Marshall, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

In all his endeavors, Jake strived for and achieved excellence. He took pride in leading the organizations he was associated with in achieving world class performance. He was an accomplished pilot and for several years was an aviation instructor at Hooks Airport. He enjoyed growing roses in honor of his wife and playing golf as long as his back would allow. He was very family oriented and his vacations and stays in the family's second home in Colorado were centered around activities with family and friends. If you were very lucky, he would tell you a story. He was a two-time cancer survivor and lived 21 years after kidney failure, including 19 years with a transplanted kidney. After retirement, he was a volunteer with CanCare, Boys & Girls Country, and a District Coordinator with the AARP Tax-Aide organization.

Jake accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior in 1945; he was a 49-year member of Champion Forest Baptist Church.

The family wishes to thank Rosalind Coleman, Joshanta "JoJo" Green, Judy Yates, and Yvette Glass for their dedication, companionship, and care for our father over the last 10 months.

Visitation will be held on Sunday October 16 from 5-6:30 pm at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champions Forest Drive, Spring, Texas.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday October 17 at 10 am at Champion Forest Baptist Church, 15555 Stuebner Airline Road, Houston, Texas.
