In Loving Memory of Harold William "Bill" Floyd
January 18, 1935 – May 9, 2025

Harold William "Bill" Floyd, age 90, of Spring, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025 after a long and happy life.

Born on January 18, 1935, Bill dedicated his life to education, leadership, and the development of young people.  Upon graduating from high school in Glendale, AZ, Bill was recruited to play college football for the New Mexico State University (NMSU) Aggies.  He graduated with a degree in Education and would later earn an Education Specialist advanced degree. Bill served in the U.S. Coast Guard in Long Beach, CA until 1959.  His career in education began as a high school football coach and teacher inspiring student-athletes across Texas with his steady guidance and competitive spirit. He later settled in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where he served the Las Cruces Public Schools for over 25 years. He became the principal of Las Cruces High School and later the superintendent of the Las Cruces Public School District.  He was also superintendent of schools in Buckeye, AZ before he retired.  Bill's leadership and dedication left a lasting impact on the communities he served and on countless students and educators.  Bill Floyd's legacy of service, love, and integrity lives on in the many lives he touched.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Jessie, his brothers Edward, Dean and John, and by his beautiful wife of 65 years, Jo Beth Matthews Floyd.  Together, Bill and Jo Beth, built a life grounded in love and family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, known for his sense of humor and deep affection for his family and his beloved dogs.

He is survived by his children, Jaymi Floyd Bertone of Spring, TX, Tracy Floyd of Scottsdale, AZ, and Herbert "Bo" Chesney (and wife, Joyce Chesney) of Ruidoso, NM, his sister, Mary Ann Suttles of Prescott, AZ, as well as his 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren.  He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him and forever missed by those who loved him.

A private memorial service will be held at the Double Mountain Cemetery near Aspermont, TX.
