H.B. Cox was born in 1934 in the central Texas town of Dublin. He passed away after a battle with COVID-19 in late November 2020. He was the eighth of nine children and the youngest boy of Hobart and Eunice Cox. H. B. was the valedictorian of his high school class at Dublin High School before attending the University of North Texas. While in college he was a member of ROTC , Sigma Nu fraternity, Blue Key Honor Society and Who's Who of American Colleges and Universities. He was also elected President of his Junior and Senior classes. He graduated with a B.S. in Banking and Finance.

After graduation, H.B. was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force; ultimately earning the rank of Captain.  He then started his career at Shell Oil Company where he met his wife, Glenna. He enjoyed his years with Shell which included several stops in Houston, TX and Midland, TX, and overseas assignments in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Damascus, Syria. H.B. decided to retire from Shell Oil after 35 years in the oil business.

H.B. was very involved with the community and his children's activities. While at Shell Oil, he was a member of Junior Achievement. He was the President of the Board of the Norchester Neighborhood for several years. He spent many hours building and painting props for the Cy-Fair Bobcat Brigade and also served as an assistant coach or booth announcer for the Cy-Fair Sports Association.

In his retirement years he was very active in the antique business until his passing. Whether you met him in the neighborhood, corporate world, or at the antique shop, H.B. was engaged and people focused. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family that he impacted with his kindness and generosity.

H.B. was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Glenna Cox, his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his brother Pat Cox and sister Louann Kinchen. Also survived by his daughter Cari Cox Horton and her husband Max Horton, son Koby Cox and his wife Jenise. Surviving grandchildren are Derek Cox-Berg, Payton Cox and his wife Courtney, and Kelsey Cox. Surviving great granddaughter Joy Marie Cox.
