Gwenel McCracken Barfield

Gwen was born May 2, 1941 in Nixon, Texas, died March 23, 2018 in Houston.  She grew up in Monahans, Texas, graduated from Monahans High School in 1959, and received a Bachelor's degree from The University of Texas at El Paso in 1967.  Gwen taught school for several years in Houston, then became a Houston home builder in the north Houston area.  She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, and The Texas Three Hundred, the settlers who received their land grants in Stephen F Austin's first colony in Mexico.

Gwen is survived by two sons, Mark Allen Barfield and his wife Clair Barfield of Trophy Club, Texas, Warren Dean Barfield of Grapevine, Texas,  grandson Kyle Barfield of Maui, Hawaii,  granddaughter Kaley Barfield of Trophy Club,  great-granddaughter, Laila Barfield of Maui, Hawaii,  sister Carolyn Sanderlin of Portland, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will be present for a viewing on Saturday afternoon, 3-6 pm, March 31 at Klein Funeral Home in Klein, Texas, and at graveside services in Grapevine Cemetery, Grapevine, Texas, at 1pm, Monday April 2.
