Guy Hill Thomas, Sr, passed on December 22, 2020. He was born in Houston, Texas, on July 20, 1932, to Guy Edward Thomas and Nina James Thomas at the Southern Pacific Hospital. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers, James Blair Thomas and William E. "Bill" Thomas, all of Houston.
Guy graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 1951. He later graduated from the University of Houston in 1959 with a degree in Economics. He served 2 years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Verdun, France from 1953-1955. Guy married Pat Williams on November 24, 1956. She was the love of his life. He returned to work at Tennessee Gas Transmission Pipeline Company (later known as Tenneco) after his tour of duty. He continued to work at Tenneco until his retirement in 1994. After his retirement, he started his own consulting company working with several larger companies. He was a very active member in ARMA (American Records Management Asssoatiion), serving in various positions of leadership and receiving a lifetime membership.
Guy was very active in the Methodist Church. First at St. Mark's United Methodist Church in the Heights and then, John Wesley United Methodist Church in the Champions area. He served in various roles as a dedicated member of his church.
He is survived by his wife Pat of 64 years, a son Guy Hill Thomas Jr. and wife Cheryl, and daughter Diane Thomas Watson and husband John, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Along with a Host of Friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a memorial to be made in his honor to John Wesley United Methodist Church.
There will be a private memorial service on January 15, 2021 at 11:00 am. The service will be live-streamed from John Wesley United Methodist Church, for those who would like to virtually join us.
