Guy Edward Hill Jr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026 at the age of 91 in Cypress, Texas. Born on September 26, 1934 in Palestine, Texas, Guy lived a life defined by his love for his family, his steadfast faith, his generous spirit and his unwavering commitment to honoring the Aggie Code.

Guy was raised in Crockett, Texas and attended Texas A&M University, where he was a proud member of The Fightin' Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. Guy truly embodied all things Texas A&M, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Economics where he went on to work with Anderson Clayton Industries  and later Mooney Aircraft -  where his mechanical aptitude flourished. When that chapter closed, he went on to operate two furniture stores in the Kerrville, Texas area. He was known among colleagues and employees for his work ethic, his integrity, and his willingness to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.

In 1957, Guy married the love of his life, Betty Lee Taylor, and together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and unconditional love. His love was blessed further with the addition of two daughters to the family, Mary Gayle Hill Bowden, and Susan Hill Welch. Guy was surrounded by women he adored and was able to not only provide strength and guidance to his family, but to many of his daughters' friends who often referred to him as a second father. Guy never missed a school program or Friday night football game, showing up faithfully in the Kerrville stands just to be near his girls. Guy referred to those times as the busiest of times, yet the happiest as well. Later in life, Guy's grandchildren lit up his world, followed by great grandchildren and the opportunity to spend cherished moments with them.

Guy was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Kerrville, where he was a deacon and later an elder who volunteered regularly and made lasting friendships. In his spare time, he enjoyed working with tools and machines and often doing the impossible fix-it repairs. He truly was a tinkerer and a predecessor to "MacGyver" with his quick wit, practical knowledge and ability to solve problems. Those who knew him were truly blessed and will remember his easy laugh, his unwavering commitment both to family and friends, his absolute trust in people and his ability to make anyone feel at home. If there were a single adjective to describe Guy it would simply be "goodness" – in mind, spirit and actions. In his final years with medical challenges mounting, his caregivers would bond quickly to him and remark favorably on his disposition and character.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Hill Welch and spouse Jeff Welch, son in law Bill Bowden and spouse Addie; his grandchildren, Jeff Jr and spouse Katelyn; Ashley and Taylor Welch; great grandchildren Levi James Welch and Ryan Grace Welch. He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Edward Hill Sr and Stella Box Hill; his beloved spouse Betty Lee Hill and cherished daughter Mary Gayle Hill Bowden.

A celebration of Guy's life will be held on April 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Klein Funeral Home located at 9719 Wortham Blvd, Houston Texas 77065, followed by a burial service at 2:00PM in Crockett Texas at New Energy Cemetery next to his beloved parents, spouse and daughter.

His life was not measured in years, but in the love, wisdom, and steady presence he gave freely—and that legacy will live on in all of us.
